IYT International Crew
IYT’s entry-level yacht course, and its closest equivalent to RYA Competent Crew.
International Crew develops someone into an active crew member.
It covers both theory and practical skills needed aboard sailing or power yachts.
IYT's modular passport system currently identifies modules 1 to 11 with International Crew.
- Who it suits
- Complete beginners heading for cruising yachts rather than dinghies.
- What it is not
- Not a skipper qualification. It makes you useful crew, which is the point.

Which course should you actually book?
Three questions — your experience, the boat you want to sail, and your goal — give you a starting course and the schools that teach it near you.
