RYA Yachtmaster Guide
Not a course. An examination against a published standard, taken after qualifying sea time.
Yachtmaster is not simply the next five-day course.
The candidate must accumulate the required experience, knowledge and qualifying sea time and then demonstrate competence during an examination.
The major certificates are:
- Who it suits
- Experienced skippers whose logbook is genuinely ready, not people who like how the title sounds.
- What it is not
- It is not a five-day course, and it is not automatically a commercial licence anywhere, least of all in Australia.
